1851: Cressy’s begin race
Colonel Josiah P. Cressy and Eleanor Prentiss Cressy, his navigator, begin the race from New York around Cape Horn to San Francisco in a record 89 days, 21 hours, sailing with great skill the extreme clipper, Flying Cloud.
